Autonomous aerotaxi of Tecnalia, drone for passengers

Drone by Drone has been present at the start of the autonomous Aerotaxi of Tecnalia in the bullring in Donostia.

The first autonomous aerotaxi developed in Spain and one of the few existing worldwide, was presented by the Basque technological center last Monday with a demonstration flight preceded by brief technical explanations.

The Aerotaxi designed and manufactured by Tecnalia is a prototype for proof of concept, designed for the transfer of a person or loads of up to 150 kilograms, and cover in approximately 15 minutes urban distances of up to 15 kilometers. A milestone for future urban mobility and for the sustainable development of Smart Cities.

Although the current legislation does not allow this type of flights, or transport of people or autonomous drones, the technology advances and little by little the first test flights will be seen in simulated scenarios of this type of equipment. The U-Space projects covered by EASA and the agencies of each of the member states of the EU, will allow the development and testing of this type of prototypes, which will test the concept of transport and its adaptation to the social, aeronautical and regulatory environment. .

We can attest that the test flight performed during the presentation was very stable and smooth, thanks to its new concept of rotors, grouped in groups of 'drones' with individual freedom of rotation thanks to Cardan-type ball joints. An innovative design that allows the passenger to enjoy a stable flight while the air taxi progresses through the air space fulfilling its transport mission.

A concept of drone or UAV already announced by UBER or Amazon and with several functional designs in the world, such as the Volocopter or the EHANG.
