Drone by Drone has provided audiovisual aerial coverage in the 'Punta Galea Challenge' giant wave surfing championship through the use of drones.
The XV edition of the prestigious surfing championship that takes place in the waters of Getxo, under the cliffs of Punta Galea, could be held with unbeatable weather conditions for the participants and the public present, with a wave height of close to 6m.
Throughout the day of the championship, the Bizkaia UAS company was in charge of capturing aerial video that was broadcast in the live broadcast of the 'Punta Galea Challenge' and broadcast live through YouTube and the Guuk APP, technological sponsor of the sporting event. Our drones offered air cover during the more than 10 hours that the event lasted, sharing airspace with emergency helicopters and those of the Security Forces and Bodies. The Ertzaintza Drone Unit installed the anti-drone device to offer security to the aircraft participating in the test, including our drones, and prevent flights from being carried out without the authorization required for flights in controlled airspace (CTR).
A real challenge of resistance for our flight teams, who offered images for the retransmission throughout the event, obtaining aerial images of the giant waves, the beautiful surroundings, the dedicated public and the best surfers in the world in this spectacular discipline.
