Drone by Drone has participated in OreGaua, the ORE4citizens event, the initiative promoted by Basque scientists, joined by more than 60 researchers and 15 entities from Euskadi, with the aim of bringing science closer to citizens, raising awareness of the effects of climate change on the Basque coast and showing the key role played by marine renewable energies in the fight against global warming. In addition, the initiative seeks to highlight the global leadership of the Basque industry in the sector and the opportunity it represents for society and the planet.
Our participation in the UPV Nautical School in Portugalete consisted of carrying out exhibition flights using drones simulating offshore inspections in renewable energy facilities, and projecting the view from the camera in real time, both in RGB spectrum (conventional vision) and in infrared spectrum. Children and adults were surprised by the remote sensing capabilities of our drones, as well as the quality and resolution of the images. They were able to see each other in real time and we even dared to take a drone selfie. A real experience for the attendees.
The ORE4citizens initiative led by TECNALIA, which Drone by Drone has joined without hesitation, is completed by the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Euskampus Fundazioa and BCAM – Basque Center for Applied Mathematics. ORE4Citizens is funded by the European Union within the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme and has the support of multiple entities in the sector, such as Arrecife Energy Systems, BIMEP, the Energy Cluster, the Basque Energy Agency, the Basque Government, Iberdrola, Idom, Nautilus, Saitec, Sener, Siemens Gamesa, the Port of Bilbao, Ocean Energy Europe and WindEurope.
