We support OdysseyAnnapurna25, Alex Txikon's new winter expedition

Drone by Drone supports Alex Txikon in his new expedition to the Himalayas, in which he intends to conquer the Annapurna (8,091m) in winter.

During a press conference held at the Mendietxe Museum in Azpeitia (which we will surely talk about soon) the new ambitious project of the Bizkaia mountaineer was presented to the media, together with the legendary Nepalese Sherpa Pasang Temba and other institutional and business support, among which the Provincial Council of Bizkaia stands out.

Txikon has presented the travel plans, acclimatization at altitude and possible route to attack the summit, in an expedition that will be carried out in the most sustainable way possible, without supplementary oxygen and with solar panels installed at the base camp. The climbing team is completed by the Italian Matia Contte, the Pakistani Sajid Sadpara and the Polish Waldemar Kowalewski.

As specialists in the use of unmanned aircraft in the most demanding conditions, Drone by Drone will be supporting the expedition with our advice, as the team is carrying drones prepared by the operating company from Bizkaia, whose uses are endless. From the acquisition of incredible aerial images (since a documentary of the adventure will be filmed) to the most technical work that is of great help to the development of the expedition. Drones can be used to carry out inspections of the viability of the defined ascent routes, being able to see from the air possible areas of seracs, avalanches or cracks, in a terrain as changing as the Himalayan mountains in winter. Alex himself admits that climate change is affecting the climbing conditions in the Himalayas, making them much more unpredictable and enjoying fewer days of atmospheric balance.

In addition, in case of emergency, the drone can be a fast and effective tool to detect and offer first aid to the mountaineer.

From here, we offer all our support to the members of the expedition, with the aim of ensuring that they return home safe and sound, and having achieved the desired objective, reaching the summit of the giant Annapurna in winter, an event that has not been achieved since the first time it was climbed in winter in 1987.
