Drone by Drone participated in the drone-focused DemoDay event organized by Bilbao PortLab, to promote the use of drones in the port environment and to help companies understand the possibilities of using unmanned aircraft.
As a drone operator with extensive experience in the Port of Bilbao, we showcased various success stories and applications developed for various port companies, covering the audiovisual, industrial, and security sectors, as well as the most recent mobility studies conducted with the DroneSAAT tool. Solutions using 5G networks or the application of Artificial Intelligence and Vision to data obtained from drones allow us to expand their capabilities and deliver high-value-added information.
We were joined by speakers Roberto Gándara from AESA, who focused on regulations (mainly SORA); Daniel García-Monteavaro from ENAIRE, who presented the U-Space and its functionalities; Luis Moreno from SENASA spoke about the geographic scope of UAS for critical infrastructure such as the Port of Bilbao; Asier Urrutia from the Ertzaintza (Basque Police) explained the functions performed by drones and their derivatives within the Police Force; and Imanol Echevarria from Tecnalia contextualized the state of the art of unmanned aircraft and the innovative designs they have developed.
At the end of the presentations, we participated in groups in a creative activity in which different possibilities for using drones for the Port of Bilbao and all its associated companies and activities were proposed.
We are grateful that Bilbao PortLab has given us the opportunity to showcase our work and practical applications within the Port of Bilbao and contribute our experience in this field.
