Drone by Drone has carried out UAS operations for Civil Protection during stage 11 of La Vuelta, starting and finishing in Bilbao.
Drones have become the aerial eyes of civil protection and prevention agencies at these types of events, which are expected to attract large crowds. During the flights, attendee flows, planned prevention measures, emergency exits, potential crowding, etc. are analyzed, ultimately ensuring everything runs as safely as possible from a safety standpoint.
Both during the stage's start from San Mamés Stadium, during the stage's intermediate passage through the city center, and at its finish on Gran Vía, the Bilbao-based operating company has been able to provide aerial support from various strategically chosen points in the city to ensure the established prevention and civil protection measures. All of this was carried out in coordination with the security forces and bodies responsible for ensuring the event's security, whose work must not be hindered. In addition, the mandatory coordination with other manned aircraft, such as the Televisión Española broadcast helicopters and the Ertzaintza (Basque Police) aircraft, was also carried out.
