Drone by Drone has had the opportunity to collaborate with the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum on the presentation of a recently acquired painting, "Bilbao circa 1700," of great historical significance. This is a large-format, highly detailed view of Bilbao, painted in oils around 1700.

This previously unknown view of Bilbao, painted in the late 17th century, provides a precise insight into the urban planning and daily life of the period, allowing a reconstruction of Bilbao's activity due to its high level of accuracy. Through drone flights over the Miribilla area, it was possible to frame it with the perspective drawn by the artist, allowing the similarities between both images and the evolution of the city to be observed. The panoramic view of the painting extends from the Church of the Encarnación to the Hermitage of San Mamés, framing the estuary's outlet at its mouth.

The presentation of the painting coincided with the launch of the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum's new digital platform.

Our work consisted of drone flights to compare the detailed views in the newly acquired painting with those of today, attempting to simulate the same perspectives the painter captured in his work.

We attach the link so you can learn more about this fascinating painting and compare it with the current view.
