Drone by Drone has carried out security operations using drones for preventive surveillance of the 'Bilbao Night Running Fest' sporting event.
Drones have become the aerial eyes of citizen security and prevention agencies at these types of sporting events, where managing traffic cuts, the flow of people and spectators, and the running of the race itself pose a challenge for the authorities responsible for maintaining security. During the flights, traffic flows were analyzed, including the cuts made throughout the duration of the sporting event, the number of attendees, the planned prevention measures, emergency exits, potential crowding, etc., in short, ensuring that everything runs as safely as possible from a safety perspective.
To be useful, these types of operations must be highly dynamic, aiming to cover as many points or locations of interest as possible. Therefore, in our case, we flew our drones from different locations, moving around, and allowing for flexible operations. Thanks to this, the UAS operating company was able to cover the departure area and the entire Bilbao estuary axis until the end of the test and the reopening of traffic, once traffic has returned to normal.
