Drone by Drone provided drone footage of the 9th edition of Euskelec, held in Vitoria-Gasteiz on an urban circuit located between Plaza de la Virgen Blanca and Plaza de España.
Euskelec is a competition, organized by Tknika, in which students from Vocational Training centers in the Basque Country and invited centers design and build fully electric vehicles based on a common powertrain (motor, motor controller, and batteries). The competition aims to promote teamwork among students and establish experimental and creative activity as a pedagogical tool for gaining technical knowledge of electric vehicles. This year, 22 centers from regions such as the Basque Country, Castilla-La Mancha, Cantabria, Castilla y León, and Catalonia showcased their technical skills and ingenuity at this major event.
The final phase of Euskelec, in which the drone operator participated, took place on a closed urban circuit, allowing the public to closely observe the electric cars as they competed in different tests:
- Acceleration Test
- Slalom Test
- Braking Test
- Endurance Test
The Bilbao-based drone operator participated in the live drone broadcast of the tests conducted on the circuit in Vitoria, led by the Somorrostro Training Center, with 5G telecommunications deployed.
We thoroughly enjoyed this event, which demonstrated that the use of drones in urban environments and controlled airspace is possible, provided that the limitations specified by current legislation on unmanned aircraft are respected.
