Precision Agriculture works using drones: Sunflower crops

Drone by Drone continues to perform precision agriculture works during the summer.

In addition to the work that has been carried out in the field of viticulture, horticulture or extensive crops, during this season we have monitored by drones sunflower crops, some plantations which are of incomparable hypnotic beauty from drone view.

The cultivation of sunflower in the northern of Spain is very common as they are used in biofuels or biodiesel. Its planting will depend on the height to which it is and therefore its density of plantation is a factor to take into account in the performance of this type of crops. Applying principles of precision farming using drones yields data are obtained, as important as planting density as well as irrigation patterns, important despite being a rainfed crop.

Another important factor in this type of crop is the nitrogen deficit, as it is one of the causes of the decrease in yields in the sunflower crop, so that the preparation of maps of nitrogen supply and their presence in soils is of vital importance in obtaining optimal yields.

Drone by Drone, by means of fixed-wing drones and specialized multicopters, is able to capture data through the sensors that carry these for study. By means of the maps of reflectance or orthophotos precise, an optimization of the production is realized.

In addition, the photographs obtained by the operating company drones on this type of plantations are spectacular, by the planting patterns of the plants or the colors of their leaves. Let us not forget that the seeds of the sunflowers are placed according to a distribution pattern following the golden ratio and achieving an optimum seed density per plant.

Enjoy the views.
