Thermographic applications in Fourth Millennium: Operation Panther

Last Sunday the special 'Operation Panther' was broadcast on the TV show 'Cuarto Milenio' with images provided by Drone by Drone.

The 'Operation Pantera' arises from the sightings made by the inhabitants of La Alcarria of an alleged black panther prowling the mountain.

'Cuarto Milenio', moved to the area a team of experts, led by Iker Jiménez and Carmen Porter, which we had the pleasure of joining.

In addition to the usual recordings we made for the program, this time through our drones was attempted to find the aforementioned panther. For this purpose cameras of visible spectrum and thermographic cameras were used. During the broadcast of the program the usefulness of the thermographic cameras mounted on drones can be appreciated for the tasks of search and tracing.

Drone by Drone could not find the panther, due to the large extent of land on which it is supposed to be. Our thermographic cameras, at dusk, yes they gave with numerous roe deer, an animal present in the zone and of which, apparently, the panther is feeding.

Once again, apart from the audio-visual applications of the drones, their usefulness is demonstrated in tasks such as searching, tracing or rescuing people. Thermographic cameras are vital in this type of situation, allowing drones to fly at night as long as the legal conditions established for it are met.
