Search and rescue of people at sea by thermographic camera

Drone by Drone is conducting tests for tracking and searching people in the open sea by using thermal imaging cameras.

The flight tests performed show the power of the thermography applied to this scenario, allowing the location of the person even if it is partially afloat. The tests carried out during daytime show perfectly the part of the person that is out of the water (in general, the head and upper torso) and even some of the submerged extremities are intuited.

We believe that the tool could acquire more power by performing searches at night, when the presence of light is minimal and there is less screening of the transmittance of the water layer. As soon as flights are allowed in night conditions, we can put into practice and test this type of flight.

We enclose the thermal image and the visible spectrum as shown.
