Drone by Drone in 'El Correo': Everything you need to know before buying a drone

The Technical Director of Drone by Drone has been interviewed by the newspaper 'El Correo' for an article about drones.

The article entitled 'Everything you need to know before buying a drone' gives a brief overview of the most important concepts when purchasing a drone, such as the legislation that regulates its use, for example.

The current legislation, RD 1036/2017 establishes the current legal framework for the professional operation of drones in its articles and in the additional provisions, the constraints and limitations of recreational flight. It is an evolution of RD 8/2014 and of Law 18/2014, which includes scenarios for the use of drones that are not proposed in the previous legislation. However, the protocols and coordination between administrations necessary to be able to carry out flights in the new scenarios have not yet been drafted or approved in full, so for practical purposes we continue working according to the system of declaration of responsible introduced in the previous legislation , more than 4 years ago. This means that drones can not be flown over agglomerations of buildings and people outdoors, in controlled airspace, beyond visual range (500m) for drones larger than 2kg and at night for professionals. Recently the first drone operations have been known in some of these new scenarios.

To be a professional drone pilot, it is necessary to obtain the theoretical certificate, the practical certificate and you must have an aeronautical class medical certificate. To be able to work as a professional pilot, you always have to do it under the protection of an authorized operator, which can be a company such as Drone by Drone or a self-employed person who is established on their own to work in this sector.
For recreational use it is not necessary, but it is convenient, mainly to know the legal aspects of its use. Where and under what conditions drones can be flown is essential to avoid possible risks or sanctions to the person in charge of the drone as recreational use.

The drones that currently exist in the market, with a price range above € 500, already have basic safety and operational conditions. They must have safe flight termination systems and in addition to basic emergency systems. The main drone manufacturer in the world is DJI, with its models Mavic Air, Mavic Pro, Mavic 2 or Spark as drones of first access, with very good flight conditions. Parrot with his Bebop 2 or Anafi or Yunnec with his model Breeze are not lagging behind.
