Drone by Drone participates in a fire drill in La Arboleda by the Forest Service of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia

Drone by Drone has taken part in the training days organized by the Forestry Service of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia to update the emergency plan for forest fires, INFOBI.

The action of the emergency plan for forest fires aims to achieve a more resilient territory in the face of these adverse phenomena, whose behavior is expected to be more extreme as a consequence of global warming derived from climate change, with persistent droughts, heat waves and episodes of intense winds. .

The adaptation of the plan has focused on four main aspects.
- A forest fire analysis service has been developed to support the technical direction of extinction, both in the prevention and extinction of fires. This team will carry out planning and prevention tasks, identifying critical areas that require priority attention. During fires, they will advise on the behavior and evolution of the fire. The team will be integrated into the Advanced Command Post, where the extinction device is coordinated.
- Improvement of investigations into the causes of forest fires. A specialized team made up of technical personnel and forest agents has been created to more precisely determine the causes of the fires. This team will work in collaboration with the environmental investigation services of the Ertzaintza to determine if there is any criminal component at the origin of the fire.
- The use of heavy machinery, such as bulldozers, both in preventive and extinction work. The incorporation of a new bulldozer is expected to increase the response capacity in the territory. These machines are effective in prevention tasks, maintenance of firebreaks and forest roads, as well as in extinguishing the fire itself, offering protection to the work teams and facilitating direct and indirect attacks on the fire front.
- Emphasis has been placed on reinforcing the training of forest fire prevention and extinction personnel, as well as carrying out drills and training for the development of various tactics and maneuvers in different extinction situations.

The UAS operating company established in Bizkaia has participated in the forest fire drills generated in La Arboleda, for the training of personnel together with heavy machinery, testing different attack techniques and protection against the flames, carrying out flights with equipped drones of RGB or thermographic cameras. The use of thermographic cameras in night flights allows visualizing the flame front and possible embers that may remain without being properly extinguished. In addition, during daytime operations, they allow the coordination of terrestrial human resources by being able to see through the smoke, establishing the drone as an important tool in forest firefighting tasks.
