The Ría de Bilbao is a perfect setting for practicing drifter competitions, making the drone an important tool for broadcasting. Due to its specific conditions, in this environment the drone is a more versatile and efficient tool than a manned aircraft such as the helicopter, the protagonist of aerial broadcasts in open waters.
The drone operating company has been broadcasting incredible aerial images in a privileged environment, the Bilbao estuary, with numerous monuments on both banks for the XIV Bandera de Bilbao, the XXII Bandera del Ayuntamiento de Sestao or the XLIV Bandera de Santurtzi, among others. both for the Eusko Label League and for the Euskontren League.
The rowing conditions in the estuary are somewhat peculiar, perfectly captured by the drone, with the presence of wind and currents due to tidal changes, which have affected different lengths differently. The unmanned aircraft offer a vision of the strategies followed by each one of the drifter bosses and the reactions of the judges to avoid the occupation of adjacent streets by rival drifters.
The recordings broadcast live by drone for the sports services of EiTB or Tele7 have managed to bring the effort of the rowers closer to the public from a privileged point of view, giving the shots a kinematics and closeness that until now were difficult to obtain by means of a manned helicopter.
