As professionals in the audiovisual sector, Drone by Drone has taken on the challenge of developing its environmental sustainability plan and thus complying with the environmental requirements of the ICAA and the Basque Government.
Within the dynamic promoted by Basque Green Film, the technical secretariat promoted by the Department of Culture and Linguistic Policy of the Basque Government to promote sustainable cinema in Euskadi, the drone operating company has attended, thanks to the support of EIKEN, the practical workshop for 'Green Manager' of audiovisual productions. As a result of the knowledge acquired, and given the work we do in this type of audiovisual productions, Drone by Drone has joined the challenge of defining an environmental sustainability plan, calculating the carbon footprint and implementing measures that make The environmental impact of drone flight is as minimal as possible.
The final goal is to obtain the Green Film sustainable cinema certification, the standard adopted by CineRegio (the network of regional funds for cinema and Film Commissions in Europe). Starting in 2024, it is planned to implement this green seal in the Basque Government's audiovisual production aid policies, so we cannot waste time.
The main actions to take to reduce the carbon footprint are focused on transportation and travel, but we must not rule out other logistical aspects such as battery charging, meals and accommodation, and even the responsible and efficient consumption of the materials we use in our daily lives.
As suppliers of aerial images or aerial recordings for the audiovisual sector and productions, we consider that it is worth facing the challenge.
