The Technical Director of Drone by Drone, Ander García, has been interviewed by the EiTB information services about the legislation that applies to unmanned aircraft or drones, and the limitations that apply to the Basque capitals, Bilbao, Donostia and Vitoria .
Last week, the Donostia City Council recalled at a press conference the flight limitations for drones that apply over the skies of San Sebastian, with UAS operators who want to fly having to obtain at least 3 flight authorizations regardless of the type of drone they are using. to fly (also for drones less than 250g) and its purpose:
- Flight authorization for controlled airspace at Handarribia Airport
- Flight communication in an urban environment to the Security Department of the Basque Government
- Reservation of public space to the Donostia City Council, if the flight was carried out over a passable and urban area.
In addition to these authorizations, the UAS operator must comply with the rest of the legal requirements, such as being registered with AESA (to be able to fly drones of any weight that have a camera), having aeronautical civil liability insurance and that the pilot of the unmanned aircraft has the training associated with the flight category in which the operations will be carried out.
Aware of the difficulties and intricacies of the legislation that applies, the EiTB information services have interviewed our Technical Director, who has explained these details, trying to clarify the regulations that apply to the general public, and in this way disclose the limitations with which These types of flights have to be carried out, under penalty of the large fines that could be imposed for violation of the air safety or citizen security law.
